Ceramic Fibers for Vitrified Microsphere Expansion Furnace

11

When selecting thermal insulation materials for industrial kilns, you first need to clarify the basic operating conditions of the equipment, including long-term operating temperature, working regime, applicable industries, service atmosphere and processing media. Today, Aladdin will analyze suitable ceramic fiber products for thermal insulation of expanded perlite vitrification furnaces based on their operating characteristics.

PART 01 Introduction to Expanded Perlite Vitrification Furnace

The expanded perlite vitrification furnace is a high-temperature vertical kiln specially used for producing vitrified expanded perlite. Its combustion chamber is located at the lower part of the kiln body, where materials are heated by convection and conduction via hot flue gas.
The movement of ore particles inside the furnace is governed by two main forces: gravity, which pulls particles downward in free fall; and buoyancy, acting in the opposite direction to slow down the falling speed of particles.
When ore particles first enter the furnace chamber, the upward buoyancy from hot airflow is weaker than gravity, so the particles fall downwards. As the temperature rises above 850°C during falling, the particles expand with increased volume and buoyancy. Once buoyancy exceeds gravity, the expanded particles rise with the hot airflow and continue to be heated and expanded.

After reaching the top of the kiln, the expanded perlite particles are diverted by the induced draft fan into water-cooled horizontal separators and cyclone separators for shaping and separation. Finished products are then delivered to the finished product silo by the blower and sent for packaging.

PART 03 Ceramic Fiber Products for Expanded Perlite Vitrification Furnace

For the upper and lower kiln openings, adopt the composite insulation structure combining Aladdin ceramic fiber modules and layered & cut ceramic fiber blankets. Ceramic fiber folded blocks are applied to the vertical cylinder section of the kiln for simpler and faster installation.

Standard 1260-grade material is adopted for ceramic fiber modules and folded blocks, while high-purity 1260-grade material is used for burner areas.

PART 04 Advantages of Ceramic Fiber Modules

  1. After the binding is removed, folded blankets compact mutually in all directions without gaps.

  2. The flexible fiber blankets offer good resistance to mechanical force.

  3. The elasticity of fiber blankets compensates for kiln shell deformation and prevents gaps between modules.

  4. Low self-weight leads to minimal heat absorption as thermal insulation materials.

  5. Low thermal conductivity delivers excellent energy-saving performance.

  6. Outstanding resistance to thermal shock.

  7. No drying or curing is required for the lining, so the furnace can be put into operation immediately after installation.

  8. The anchoring system is set away from the hot face of modules, keeping metal anchors working at relatively low temperatures.
